It’s Funk Royale and we’re back to put some new fizzle in ya shizzle for 2012. Come join us on friday the 20th (January) at the Notting Hill Arts Club where we go about the business of getting royally funked. This month, here’s whats up: Lyric L is Live!

Having worked with many of the greats in the broken beat scene from Mark de Clive Lowe to Daz-I-Kue as well as hip-hop greats from Roots, Ty and Black Thought to the Nigerian god that is Tony Allen, Lyric L has only just got around to releasing her first album ‘Amazed’ (Fresh Rotations).

Released in October to great acclaim, it’s a sumptuous feast of heavy beats, broken bass and killer lyrics with guests including Kevin Mark Trail, DJ Spinna, Mark de Clive Lowe and Daz-I-Kue.

We are over the moon to have Lyric L kick off 2012 for us. Having supported us since way back, ‘L has been a true friend of Funk Royale, regularly cheering us on and performing impromptu on many a night with us.

Not one to rest on her laurels, she’s also lined up a collaboration with Don Blackman later this year, but for now, she’s happy to hang with us – on stage at 10pm don’t miss it.
